Our laminates are around 0.8mm thick, are highly flexible, and because of being high-pressure laminate rather than the thinner melamine paper, are extremely resistant to water, chemicals, scratching and general wear and tear.
A common question relates to their use in shower panels. This is actually the largest sector of our business, and we can say with great authority that the ELS range of laminate panels and laminate sheets are ideal for that application.
High pressure electro static dissipative or chemical resistant laminate tops are the perfect answer for electronic assembly, dust-free environments for manufacturing of circuit boards and other sensitive work areas i.e. hospitals and laboratories. ESD tops are commonly used in worktops, table tops in software development centres, assembly line rooms, research laboratories. Our high-pressure laminate tops are available with several edge options, including our PVC or laminate in square edge, bullnose or modern front edge.
Compact Grade Laminate
Compact Grade Laminate which is 12-16mm thick, and is a solid sheet of laminate made up of many more layers of paper and resin. This does not require a timber substrate, but is more expensive. It’s main advantage is resistance to moisture. This product is often found in toilet cubicle partitions where it is regularly washed down with chemicals.
Digital print laminate
ELS Digital Concept opens up entirely new areas of creativity. Using digital technology, we can create laminate sheets to your own unique design. It can take as little as seven weeks from artwork to sample, and the process is relatively cost effective for such a special and bespoke service.
Our range of high gloss acrylic laminates are available in 10mm finish with a Poplar ply core or 20mm finish with an MDF core.
Our poplar ply option is extremely popular because we use a 6mm board, then face both sides with a 1mm HDF before laminating the acrylic. This gives our end product a superior mirror gloss finish. Perfect for splashbacks, kitchen cupboards, shower panels plus much more! Not to forget our acrylics laminate is also resistant to UV radiation to guarantee colour and stability for many years.
Our in-house edge bander allows us to edge board 9mm and thicker. We hold stock of a vast variety of PVC edging to match most laminates. However, we also offer a laminate edging service for projects where you need an exact match on all panel sides i.e. wood grain panels.
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is generally denser than plywood.
MDF certainly has its’ benefits and because of these, it is an extremely popular material used in the furniture industry. This is because it’s not only cost effective and versatile, but it’s also an environmentally friendly option as its made from recycled wood.
MDF is a fantastic option when you require a gloss laminate finish as the material is completely smooth and level throughout the length of the board.
We offer MDF in two sizes; 3050 x 1220mm or 2440 x 1220mm with various thicknesses available.
Birch plywood is unique because of it's all-birch veneer core that's cross-banded and laminated with exterior grade glue, making for a superior stable sheet. It also has a thicker face veneer than traditional cabinet grade plywood.
We offer Birch ply in two sizes; 3050 x 1525mm or 2440 x 1220mm with various thicknesses available.
ELS laminates can be bonded to our own brand of Poplar Ply. Grown on plantations for sustainability, and quality controlled by ELS at every stage, this high quality material is up to 30% lighter than standard ply. Bonding Poplar Plywood with laminate is an exciting alternative to MDF and chipboard giving you a versatile, cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to even the most demanding design requirements.
Our poplar plywood is sustainable and helps lessen greenhouse effects caused by high levels of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
This wood is used in a wide range of industrial sectors including the furniture making industry, building industry for door and window frames, packaging industry and many more. They are also widely used to build caravans, ship cabins, yacht interiors and the toy making trade.
We offer Poplar ply in 2440 x 1220mm, with various thicknesses available.
